Our groundbreaking
2-year-old Preschool Curriculum
In preschool it’s important to focus on developing your child’s early literacy skills and critical thinking and encourage them to use their creativity through fun and simple activities.
As part of our 2-year-old preschool curriculum at Woodcrest Preschool, we focus on a specific letter and number each week, introduced through targeted activities and projects. Children participate in hands-on learning, such as attaching objects to letter and number cutouts or creating patterns with shapes. These activities build foundational phonics and numeracy skills, preparing children for future reading and math success.
Potty training is a significant milestone for 2-year-olds, and we integrate it seamlessly into daily routines. Teachers provide consistent guidance and support, helping children develop independence and confidence in managing restroom needs as part of their natural progression toward self-care.
Social skills are developed through structured and free play, emphasizing sharing, teamwork, and turn-taking. Teachers actively guide children in resolving conflicts and expressing themselves effectively, fostering an environment that promotes collaboration and emotional growth.
Learning to recognize their name is an important step in early literacy. Our preschool for 2-year-olds incorporates personalized name cards into daily activities to help children associate their names with their belongings and surroundings, strengthening both their reading skills and sense of identity.
Our program emphasizes empathy and self-awareness through activities such as storytelling, role-playing, and group games. Teachers model positive behaviors and guide children in developing communication, collaboration, and emotional regulation skills in a supportive setting.
Physical development is supported through tailored preschool activities for 2-year-olds designed to improve coordination and agility. Children engage in tasks like threading beads to enhance fine motor skills and participate in games that promote gross motor skills, building physical confidence in a fun and engaging way.

Baby Doll Circle Time
We offer a special Conscious Discipline program for our 2-year-olds called “Baby Doll Circle Time,” developed by Dr. Bailey. This innovative program recognizes that optimal child development relies heavily on healthy, nurturing relationships with adults. Since it can be challenging to provide one-on-one time in childcare settings, Baby Doll Circle Time is designed to address this need effectively. During this program, each child uses a baby doll to engage in structured circle time activities that focus on building attachment, emotional understanding, and social skills. This approach not only strengthens the bond between children and caregivers but also enhances social play, all without placing additional demands on our staff. It’s a thoughtful solution that helps ensure every child receives the attention and connection they need to thrive.
Get Involved in Your Child’s Learning!
Each month, our 2-year-old preschool introduces a family project centered around a fun theme, giving your child the chance to get creative at home. These projects allow children to express themselves and share their work with classmates. We encourage family involvement—parents, grandparents, or siblings can all join in—making it a great opportunity for quality time and collaboration. The projects are designed to be simple, enjoyable, and easy to complete, ensuring they are both engaging and meaningful for everyone.
